@kamaufreeman: Somebody explain this to me… 😂 Does this new NCAA 5-for-5 rule change my eligibility based on my timeline? Is it affecting any of you guys? #baseball #ncaa #rules #fyp
once you turn 19 and you get into the school you have 5 years to play a sport

Because you had this situation before this new rule you can put in a waiver before the deadline which is in July I think. However as of now no more red shirt yrs, not even medical. Still learning…

Yoo bro so you still have three years to play if your already in college you stick to the old years if it benefits you. They won’t take a year from you if you did it by the old rules

You get to operate under the old rules or the new. The old rules would be more advantageous for you because of the gap year. You medically redshirted one year so you still have two left. Hope that helps.

You’re school would have a option to choose your 3 years or go by the age based model for you

It will probably be similar to the pavia situation where everyone in your position would be granted your 3 years you have left. It will be more strict for the upcoming freshman class where redshirts are out the window

I’m also extremely confused. I played the 2024 season, but had season ending surgeries in 25 and 26. I’m under the impression that we are “grandfathered” into the old eligibility rules, but it is devastating athletes that have more than one injuries.

I’d try and reach out to someone in compliance at your school. We had a meeting with compliance mid year knowing this rule was gonna pass. So they’ll probably be your best bet when it comes to knowing what type eligibility you have
