@jakeheyen: Running shoes are starting to look like the Spice Girls platform shoes 👇 So Adidas, Nike, and Hoka all have shoes pushing crazy stack heights. With soles that range from 45 to 60 millimeters tall. Every performance running shoe is just getting thicker and thicker. But here’s where it gets interesting. There’s actually a legal limit. World Athletics caps road racing shoes at 40mm. So all those shoes in the 45 to 60 mm range from earlier, are illegal for racing. So what these brands do is design all their racing shoes right up to that line. For example, the guy who recently ran the first sub 2 hour marathon, was wearing a new Adidas shoe that is 39mm - just below the legal limit. But the training shoes are all being made way thicker. Now, the thickness does give you more bounce and energy. But I think there’s something else in play as well. Running is so cultural now that your shoes are your personality. So brands are like, we can make you faster and you’ll stand out at run club. It’s a blend of performance help and marketing. These shoes are only gonna get bigger. #Running #runningshoes #marathon #shoes #runner
