Good point. Sometimes withdrawal—or going into a “funk,” as I like to call it—is a coping or self-protection mechanism. It can stem from our own insecurities or from previous experiences where we weren’t understood, felt controlled, manipulated, or were met with anger.
Communication isn’t always easy, but the right partner creates enough safety for it to happen.
