@hey_heesun: first off, props to @Mel for the post idea and helping me realize that i’m done saving for retirement too 🙌🏼 here are more details on the numbers you see in the post 📝 the accounts listed in this post consist of only my funds and include my ira, roth ira, and 401k. my cash, my brokerage accounts, and crypto are not included. even if I do not invest another dollar, I will have have $4M by the time i’m 65. this assumes a 10% return, 3% inflation rate, and 0.03% in investment fees (this is the average fee of my current index funds). based on the 4% rule and with $4M invested, I can safely withdraw $160k/year and not run out of money. this is CRAZY to me because this is way more than I currently spend per year. i got here not because I was doing anything special, but because I started saving early on. I don’t have a background in finance, i’m not making that tech $$, and I don’t think my partner would describe me as especially frugal 🤪 i’m a beginner in the financial independence space, but i’m hoping that by sharing this info, i can find a community of people who are also curious about early retirement and that we can learn from each other on what’s been working/what’s not. if you have any questions, i’ll do my best to answer! #earlyretirement #coastFI #fire #millennial #investingforbeginners

How is this possible at such a young age? Were you earning something like a tech engineer’s salary?

When watching these FIRE post apply rule of 72 to inflation also. Do at 3% inflation your cost will double in 24 years. A $160,000 in 30 years is more like $65,000 inflation adjusted.

Why stop completely though? Sure, back off but why not keep saving 5-10%?

I’m about to end a 2-year sabbatical, which I started when I hit a certain financial milestone. Can I ask why no HSA?

I’m 26 with around ~120k invested but I don’t wanna retire at 65. More like 45 or 50 something like that. Is that possible? Also, massive congrats to you. You’re living the dream!!! Goals!

Same 31 I am projected to have 6.5 mil at 66 with only 250k and can use my other 300k in my taxable brokerage for whatever still have 120k in business equity and 10k cash

Realize you will likely live to be 100.
Realize that inflation is likely here to stay.
What will your buying power be when you need it?
You need to double those savings/investments.
