The first time I had a panic attack and I didn’t know what was happening, I instinctively found myself sitting on the floor with my back up against the wall singing out loud through my tears. It really helped calm me down. I don’t know why I did that, I just felt like it was what I needed to do.

Did anyone think that the vagus nerve floated around in the body?

As a Taurus with CPTSD, i have stimmed with singing/humming to regulate all my life. I always thought it was just comforting, but its actually HEALING! 🥰

Is this my phone? It’s like the fifth video non consecutive that has this kind of lighting or filter. It’s distressing. I can’t stay.

My best friend just had a lightbulb moment. You know that lump you getting in your throat right before something happens that isn't good? It's a warning. It's your subconscious trying to warn you that something's coming. It's telling you to start humming start preparing your body so that when that incident,, whatever it is, happens, you can flow through it versus absorb it and bury it. I also want to add something else: be careful of what you are singing because words are spells and not every song you may like is putting something positive that's love and light out into the world. So be sure to sing a tune that is full of love and light versus something dark and dingy.

is that why victims of childhood SA often have a high pitch "baby voice" as adults?

As a retired pro from the early days of fascia science (😮‍💨) I love to witness other professions begin to learn this material deeply and interpret through their lens. This info and way of communicating it: SO ON POINT. Thank you

So if we combine our intention with our voice, we can initiate healing and restoration in our body. Then I would assume.

i always need and want to sing to release, it's something I've come to understand as my body's way of regulation. But, one of my biggest trigger/stress points is my jaw, i find that when i try to sing to release my body also registers stress at the same time too so often i end up stressing my body in using my voice 😭 what is thaaat how can i heal this??

You are so knowledgeable and articulate! And a true gift to all of us who never knew what fascia was nor how it connected with the vagus nerve and calm. Brings new meaning to finding your true voice. TY!

Do you delve into how different types of music address things differently? Is that a thing? This explains so much to me. Thank you. My system was blown by the age of 14. In HS, I was very active in the Music Dept, with multiple opportunities to sing each day. That explains how I was able to maintain more, and what happened when I graduated, and stopped singing regularly. Wow.

What would you recommend for people who have to deliver bad news to people as an aspect of their job, talking 8 hours a day, often hoarse?

I used to be able to sing beautifully. But now, my vocal cords feel dry and tight and possibly have polyps. I would love nothing more than to be able to sing again.
