@itvnews: More than 500 mothers and babies suffered potentially avoidable harm or died at a “toxic” hospital trust, a damning report has revealed. The biggest maternity review in NHS history has exposed 162 deaths - including 156 children and six mothers - could have been avoided if they were given better care. The Ockendon report, an independent inquiry into maternity services in Nottingham, has included the cases of 2,500 families over a 20-year period, and serious and deadly incidents in maternity care and found a string of “repeated failures”. In a statement, the NUH Trust has apologised unreservedly and says it fully accepts the findings of the Review. It says it will now take time to carefully consider and reflect further on its recommendations. #maternity

Please sign the Fund Future Midwives petition to help spread awareness of unsafe staffing levels and the little jobs available for upcoming students to apply for. Thank you :)

They spend thousands of pounds on these reviews, when they could use the money to improve services that we already know are broken!😳

Sadly maternity care is bad at the moment everywhere, it’s sad as that’s when we need the most care and we’re so vulnerable

the care the qmc provided for my son nearly 11 years ago was absolute perfection. the staff in that neo-natal ward not only saved my sons life but provided absolutley above and beyond tremendous care. could not speak any highly of them all ❤️

There are even more ...what about those who were let down before the Trust was formed. it was the same staff the same policies and procedures. They have been forgotten in this review

Queen Charlotte's Hospital is the same; they let a junior surgeon carry out my C-section, and he ran into difficulties, while the senior surgeon had to adjust what he had done, leaving me with a lifetime illness. THIS MUST STOP AGAINST MOTHER.

Nobody of my age that I know has had a positive experience of maternity services. No dignity, not listened to, denied pain relief and one friend was sent home with a spinal tap following an epidural.

So any disciplinary consequences? Will the responsible individuals be punished for their negligence?
