@sheldricktrust: Mzinga has appointed herself Zuri’s personal nanny. Every night – with no outside urging – she step-by-step escorts the little elephant into her bedroom. Once she’s seen her safely inside, the mini matriarch about-turns and heads to her own stockade. Elephants are so remarkably intuitive, and Mzinga is extremely nurturing by nature: she knows that Zuri is still settling in and pays her special attention. Rescued from a septic tank only last month, Zuri is the newest addition to our orphan herd. Learn more about her and perhaps become part of her journey through an adoption: swt.bio/zuri © Sheldrick Wildlife Trust #sheldricktrust #elephant #animals #nanny #animalrescue

In a herd of elephants all females look after the young not just their own - this not so old elephant has these instincts and wants the little one to be safe before she goes to bed
