A lot of them didn’t miss it. They knew Daniel’s and other’s prophecies, and knew exactly when the messiah was going to show up. That’s why Paul persecuted Christians so much in the beginning, because he knew that the messiah was going to show up any day now, and he was worried that other people were going to mislead the masses by claiming they’re the messiah. It wasn’t until Jesus appeared before Paul on the road to Damascus saying ‘yo, in the real deal’ that Paul finally caught on. Many of them were so focused on getting it right that they completely got it wrong.

One time the Holy Spirit asked me, “do you think you would have recognized Jesus as the Messiah if you were alive when He was on earth or would you think he was a heretic?” And I ::really:: had to examine my heart and repent of religiousness I didn’t realize I had. And I still think about it from time to time; “am I being a Pharisee or a disciple?”

I’m gonna assume this was asked as a question and that you aren’t being disrespectful. We may disagree about whether Jesus is the Messiah, but both take the Scriptures seriously. Jews don’t ignored their own Scriptures; it’s because we understand the prophecies through a different interpretive tradition. The whole second coming to be able to fulfill the rest of the prophecy is an issue. Our interpretation states the messiah will rebuild the 3rd temple, free the Jews from oppression, and so on. Ask another Jew and you’ll get a different answer. 🤷♀️

Because they listened to the teachings of man but not to the Word of God…..And the people of this generation do the same,listen to the teachings of man in “church” and denied the Truth which is the Word of God….The Word of God having the name of Jesus Christ..

For me the most human explanation is that the jewish high priests at the time is reluctant to give up the position and influence over the Jews. This is not limited to only Jewish faith but also applies in any religious group. That is why I always ask any religious head/leader when they preach if it really was God’s will or their own?
