Pretty much every character in this movie is a selfish, thoughtless narcissist. And that's the POINT... Can't believe people are still in these binary "Heros and Villains" mindset, the movie is clearly way more complex than that.

you’re pointing out that there is a weird undertone of letting bear’s terrible actions be implicitly excused by the world building of the flawed characters and the comments can’t handle it. you’re right!!

Who’s arguing that Bear is the only “bad guy”? I feel like it’s more realistic to have everyone be guilty of something and morally grey, so that they’re more representative of reality

It's a horror movie, but I'd argue it's even moreso a Shakespearean/Greek tragedy. Horrible and terrifying things happen, but all of it is 100% avoidable and comes about due to the consequences of the flawed characters' actions.

I just think the movie is trying to tell you no one is really the good guy or bad guy aside from the entity obviously it’s the big bad guy but that was gives the movie more substance there their isn’t really a clear cut hero

You make good points but you can’t group Nikki with Ian and sarah for not telling baron, the tragic twist of the movie is that she was interested in Baron, Ian and Sarah were actively deceiving him to prevent a relationship between two people they like, Nikki just wanted him to stop being a coward, she doesn’t have to tell him who she hooked up with if he can’t say what he wants, that’s something Ian should’ve done

I still don’t really buy into the idea that Ian was intentionally giving Bear bad advice, this is something I’ve heard a lot and I’m skeptical about it, I don’t think he was giving him good advice but I feel like Ian and Nikki’s dynamic was very different from Bear’s and he was essentially just telling Bear to act like him, which to me is what threw Nikki off so much because it was so transparently out of character for him and something more in character for Ian, I don’t really buy that they were lying to him I just don’t think Bear was seeing what was obvious in front of him
