you're absolutely correct. qualified immunity does not stop criminal charges. the problem is prosecutors who will not charge their attack dogs. Let's look at the baby killed by police in Mississippi. just for giggles let's say the cop was justified in shooting the driver. he still shot an innocent. he is not in jail which is exactly where anyone else would be for shooting an innocent person in an otherwise justified self defense incident.
