The PS5 and PS5 Pro are cheaper because PlayStation has enough brand recognition to get cheaper components, and they generate revenue through PS+ subscriptions; otherwise, the PS5 Pro would have cost $1600. With the Steam Machine, you pay upfront and you don't have to pay anything else. No subscriptions, no internet connection required to play games, and promotions galore. That's it: you buy your console and your games, nothing else. The interface is more intuitive for chatting and it's more practical for streaming than a PS5, which is truly awful in that regard. Plus, you have access to mods to extend the game's lifespan and fix annoying bugs that exist on consoles. The Steam Machine is very expensive, but with all these advantages, I say it's worth the price.
