I got the call my grandmother who I hadn’t seen in 17 years had less than 2 weeks I was in her hospital room in less than 72 hours and that’s because there was a 1000 difference in flight tickets if I didn’t leave the next morning and I went from the airport to her hospital room I got special clearance since I traveled over 3000 miles

This is how my mind sounded running into my old living room after hearing my dad call for me as his mom passed on hospice. I didn’t get there in time to say goodbye. I regret it every single day.

I'll never forget the text from my mom, racing over getting stuck in rain and traffic cursing out every God I could think of and calming down and asking. "he's gone isn't he" and I knew. I'm not sure how. I was 20 minutes too late.
