My college daughter applied to over 50 places for a summer job. Finally got an email for an interview. Showed up & was told corporate automatically sends those, they're not hiring. but keep an eye out bc you never know when someone will quit or get fired!!

My Boomer parents have yelled at my Gen Z child and called them lazy MULTIPLE times for not just walking into places to ask for a job. No matter how many times I stick up for them and tell them that’s not possible anymore, they REFUSE to listen and continue their tirade. It’s INFURIATING and has caused my child to, understandably, go low contact with them.

This one company had a virtual interview kinda like a record your answers type of thing that screens candidates. Got approved so fast fwd, I drive an hr + in traffic, made it to the physical interview only to be told that once i arrived they couldn't do my interview bc she said they don't do interviews if u are more than 10 mins late. Meanwhile I had arrived on time and been told to wait until the manager came out to get me. I waited for 15 mins before someone came to speak to me. Complete bs.

Laid off in March of last year found my next job in October of last year. I actually kept track: 778 applications, 142 rejection emails. 3 interviews. 1 offer. It was the single most humiliating horrible 7 months of my life. I’m horrified to not have a job again.

When my spouse was still working on their master’s, they got passed over for a taco-making job at Taco Bell for someone who already had their master’s. They have their master’s now and still can’t find anything. It’s been almost 4 years and thousands of applications. 4 interviews.

Not to mention the personality tests. 30 minutes to select words that describe who you are. Do I choose confident or self assured or does that make me seem stuck up? If I choose cautious does that make me seem insecure? I'm tired of these games

At this point I’m praying on the job market crash because why are entry level jobs for the jobs I got a degree for wanting 4+ years experience. And they always pass over me for more qualified candidates

And the worst thing is it takes hours to update your resume and cover letter on top of that, a test sometimes, and then there’s an email 5 mins later saying you aren’t a good fit. I KNOW THAT ISNT A PERSON. AI scanned that. 😅
