To me it honestly shows that dragons aren’t pets you can control with commands. And Rhaena has never had a dragon and only followed what was shown to her by others

The show wants to make it clear from the very first episodes that dragons arent robots to be controlled. They are animals. Sheepstealer is a reactive dog, he couldn't tell friend from foe and he was probably panicking, and it didnt help that his rider was also anxious.

Literally got taken from the wild got put in a war. Doesn’t know it’s allies…if it even has any at that, is getting hit from all directions, everyone looks the same it, pretty understandable why it reacted the way it did. 😭
