Once dubbed the “Greatest Athletic Arena in America,” the Roman Coliseum-inspired venue was one of the first major concrete stadiums in the world. Named after Syracuse trustee John D. Archbold, the stadium hosted generations of Orange legends and welcomed more than 6 million fans before closing in 1978.
