one of my friends explained it better, but kris really has no one; people notice they’re different but they treat it like a good thing, no one questions them or really offers support. and the one place they use as an escape with susie is being compromised— wether it’s romantic or platonic, kris loves susie and susie doesn’t know the real kris, and seemingly never did. and now susie likes noelle, maybe it’s paralleling how kris felt when asriel fell in love with december

i think boiling it down to just “kris likes susie” takes away SO much of the message that this is trying to send. as we know, before the SOUL kris had no one but the holiday children and asriel. they had no true friends because they were “different” (literslly and metaphorically) from everyone else. then when we come into their life, they actually make their first real friend, a friend that cares about them. but that friend (susie) doesn’t know the real kris. i think that kris is becoming over dependent on susie and THATS why they’re jealous of susie and noelle. they’re scared to lose their one true friend.
