@maggiepotamus_: The silence from people who I believed gave even an ounce of a shit about me truly feels like being stabbed in the heart. To know that they are watching my heartbreak, my pain, my story and content to sit in silence and offer not even a kind word of support has shattered a part of me. #cptsd #HealingJourney
I am not disagreeing with you but from a outsider view they might not know what to say or they are thinking back on things they missed & feel truly bad..I wouldn't myself know how to start a conversation with someone about their abuse & probably wouldn't in fear i would say something dumb or unhelpful..

It’s personal shame because they knew something was wrong and did NOTHING to help you. You did not deserve what happened to you.

I can’t speak for them but maybe they just don’t know what would be the right thing to say? What should they say that might bring you comfort?

when I moved out of my parents house (after an argument I chose to leave) I had people who were family or close family friends called me to tell me they know how abusive my mom was to me my whole childhood and NOW wanted to know what they could do to help

Be prepared when those same trusted people don’t believe you. I am living through this right now, and it is devastating. I know my truth, and I can’t control what they think. I’m so sorry this happened to you.

the silence from the people in my life after I went no contact spoke volumes about how little I was actually cared for as a child.

It is so painful, it’s why so many keep quiet. But I am so glad you are speaking up for yourself. I’m on a similar journey and it’s crazy how many different things break your heart in the process

Honor your pain & experience- acknowledge it, and heal independent of external acknowledgement or validation. If they didnt intervene then, its unlikely they will speak to it now. No amount of external validation or acknowledgement from those folks can offer you the same peace as whay you reach doing the work. from someone that has gone through similar- you know your truth, just make sure you dont "live in and for" the pain, staying there is counterproductive to your healing🩵

No one has reached out to me, but apparently my dad says "he's had many friends and family reach out to him and ask him whats going on with me.." 🙃

it's totally reality shaking if you saw those adults as safe spaces... enabling our parent and ignoring signs is NOT a safe space. we will find our safe people, just keep sharing and being yourself!

some of them probably knew what was happening back then too and did nothing. and at some point if this gets more attention, they will probably defend your mother and say you should let it go or that is couldn't have been as bad as your claim. I'm so sorry you're going through this

If that’s how they choose to behave, then they don’t deserve access to you. They don’t deserve the opportunity to reach out. They should’ve done so immediately. I’m so sorry, hun💛

Honestly, I went no contact with most of my family because of this because they SAW and believed what happened but still chose to speak with the abusers. 👋✌️

I’ve been NC with my parents and older siblings for a few years now. About a year into being NC I started sharing my story with my aunt on my mom’s side. She was shocked by some of what I told her and she said she believed me. Then after a while she started pushing me to accept my mom’s abuse “for the family” so that we can all hang out together again “because that’s what really matters”.. and I should just learn to “let things go”. So I went NC with her too. After some of what I told her went on, I am completely disgusted by her behavior
