Omg girl, did it get better!? When?! This is me right now, I got my IUD on Wednesday- under anesthesia. Placement went well, sent to the ER on Friday, sat there for 4 hours doubled over crying dissociating white knuckling through the pain to endure a pelvic ultrasound still without any pain relief, all for the ER doc to say “so the iud is in place. It looks like you have endo and a history of pelvic pain so how is this a-typical or emergent for you?” I’m in complete agony. When does the mirena settle in and pain stop?

So I also have suspected Endo and had the Kalina IUD in for five days and had the most horrific cramps of my entire life. I was taking prescription naproxen 500 mg every six hours and I wasn’t touching the pain. I went to the ER and they did an ultrasound and saw that my IUD was sitting really low in my uterus which basically my gynaecologist said that my uterus was contracting trying to get it out. So what I had been experiencing was early labour type pain. And it just had to come out. If you’re in that much pain it’s not normal and I would really suggest getting an ultrasound to see where it’s placed.

why did you get one? let me guess they told you stopping periods reduces estrogen and that's going to help. endometriosis creates its own estrogen its not a fix for everyone im tired of these so called doctors telling women this is the only thing you can do when 9 times out of 10 it actually makes it worse

Queen go to the ER tell them you have confirmed severe endometriosis, and that you had your IUD inserted today and that you were experiencing severe severe post procedure pain and any other symptoms and that you are maxed out on Advil and Tylenol. Advocate for yourself Queen. 🙏🏻

I’ve had a Mirena IUD for 5 years and it genuinely saved my life and it’s the best health intervention I’ve ever had. Also the pain during and after insertion is the worst pain I’ve ever had. Message me if you want to talk about it but just know that you’re not alone and you deserve to be heard and supported by your healthcare providers whatever you decide is best for you 🫶

I'm on orilissa for endometriosis. I was on lojaimess (birth control) and it really lightened my periods but I still had some pain. Orilissa I have had almost no pain after the first month but my periods are slightly heavier than on lojaimess but shorter than they were before any medication. Orilissa is not a birth control though

Ultrasound tech here with stage 3 endo. If they did not do an ultrasound prior to and after placement 10000% GO TO THE ER! Manufacturers require ultrasound before and after placement but a lot of an IUD but a lot of doctors don’t follow those guidelines and it could be malpositioned or they can actually “shatter” during insertion. This is a medical emergency! It’s a “rare” complication but it does happen and I’ve seen a handful myself at work

Get it out you probably have adenomyosis and it is causing it to flare up. Doctors do not have enough knowledge on this.

Girly you need to ask your doctor for a prescription for something else other than anything you can get OTC. Also, if you plan to get another one do not be afraid to ask for pain management options. Everyone has a different experience with the placement but it’s always better to know your options and ask for them as well. Our heath/ healthcare should not have to be indicative to our level of pain 💕
