@feltoland: leviticus is baby's first gay movie and baby's first horror movie. sorry! very disappointed by this one although joe bird and stacy clausen are great in it! i just want better queer horror. #leviticus #horrortok #joebird #queerfilm #stacyclausen
Hey guys so just a reminder that this was made for a film festival. It couldn't go over an hour and a half, they were on a tiny budget, and they definitely could've gone deeper if they had the means to do so. Yes, it wasn't SUPER scary, but I think they did amazing with what little time and money they had

How I felt about girls like girls. I definitely outgrew the film premise and the writing felt pretty lackluster to me. I liked the idea of Leviticus, but I can’t stand horror even if it’s not scary I can’t do it 😩😩😩 but I know a lot of “baby gays” will enjoy it so I’m glad there’s media for them.

I really enjoyed the movie but i also agree with a lot of your points. The plot did feel bare bones at times and i also didn’t feel as scared or anxious as i hoped i would

i liked the movie but i agree. i think my other complaints are that Naim figured out so early on that no one else could see the demon, or that it looked exactly like the person it was posing as, so it didn’t really leave much to be questioned or discovered as the movie went on. hunter even said that “ryan” would just come up to him and throw stuff at him, outright telling us that the demon did not always attempt to kill when they interacted. so why would they not take advantage of that? it just could’ve been so much more, it was pretty disappointing

I loved this movie 🥰 but it’s not for everyone, it takes a few watches to really grasp what’s going on

I loved the movie but I also agree with all of your comments. This at the end of the day while not being a bad movie I don’t think is particularly ground breaking. I would be interested in a sequel because I feel like there is so much potential in the concept and story that was not fully explored.

this kind of film is important in an australian context! that is a core part of its soul and concept that i really don’t think is fair to remove from it from its physical context to only analyse it from a queer lens

the cultural context of this film (isolated australian rural communities, one heavily implied to be industrial and reliant on mining) shouldn't be neglected & some of the phrasing you use in this video kinda highlights that you're looking at this from an American perspective. i grew up in a very isolated, rural town in 🇦🇺. there's certain attitudes surrounding masculinity and queerness in this cultural context & it shouldn't be purely analysed through a religious or queer perspective only. also, at a certain age, a coming of age film just isn't going to resonate with you as much as it does for younger audiences. the characters are 16 after all. not neccesarily disagreeing with you but this is just my opinion.

I understand your point of view but I think majority of the writing was intentional in the sense that the viewers had a subjective take on each scene. Also these themes tackled I think were tackled well and more specific to queer individuals that are in christian stricken households, which why it subjectively felt more impactful.

The movie definitely needed to be 30 minutes longer. This could have been a much cooler, more psychosexual queer horror movie than what it actually was.

i agree completely! as much as i wanted to love it, every character and interaction felt a bit surface-level and i wish they developed everything just a little further. in my opinion another huge disadvantage they had when it came to the “horror” genre is the misfortune of releasing around the buzz of new horror movies. i’m no horror gal but i watched backrooms and obsession last week so i was expecting a little more in that department especially for how it was marketed super heavily as a horror… most people defend it by saying the horror lies in the homophobic community of the movie which i don’t deny was and is absolutely horrible but i don’t think that necessarily translates to horror which makes people saying it’s the best horror of 2026 a tad questionable. but i am glad a lot of people enjoyed it & found themselves in it, but this was just a bit disappointing to me and i’m really trying to clutch at straws to find the will to love this one.

I think it was great, the only thing I wished was that it was longer. I would’ve loved a full 2 hours. I disagree with the takes on the personalities, because they felt real to me, but they definitely didn’t feel as fleshed out - but just because of the short time. I really think the christianity part of it is awesome, because as someone who grew up in a very conservative place, it feels just like that - they captured that vibe so well. As for the horror, I think it was terrifying, but not because of the jump scares, but because of the mere concept of the curse itself 😭 I also really did love the ending, how they did chose each other, but the best most realistic part was how the entity is always there - because the trauma and homophobia always is too. I think a TV show would’ve given the concept way more justice, but overall I very much loved it

Yeah this was a bit a disappointment. Liked the bones but it felt like every choice was explored just a bit, no follow through. You’re not the only queer person this didn’t work for! There’s dozens of us lol
