@outofgashvacr: A lot of people like low loss fittings but I personally dont. So how much gas do you really think you lose without them?🤷♂️ #hvac #hvacr #hvactechnician #hvaclife #hvactips
depends if I'm installing, sometimes when I am uninstalling I lose the whole system due to deminimus loss

Less if you let that liquid back into the low side

I would take this off its a $10,000 fine for no low loss fittings and the hose by its self holds 3 ozs so that’s like 5

It’s mostly just the gas that was in your hose.

As a word of advice, while the unit is running open your gauges to pull whatever is left in your high side hose back into the system. You won’t get everything but you’ll get most of it.

Personally, you shouldn’t hook up gauges unless necessary like a service call. There’s absolutely no reason to include this on a PM. Unless there’s signs like oil residue or system is freezing or temp drop isn’t 20ish. If it’s all checking out don’t hook up gauges

They’ve made core depressors since the dawn of time and somehow no one uses them.

Close the valve and use your gauges to empty it into the suction, barely any loss then

De Minimis Releases: The EPA does allow de minimis quantities to escape, but only when technicians are making "good faith attempts to recapture and recycle" the gas. This primarily covers the tiny amount of refrigerant that may escape when connecting or disconnecting hoses. This is hysterical... While we all try to be "good stewards" which is a phrase legislators came up with...there is always going to be more...

Until you get a low-loss valve, push the hose against the service port while you unscrew it. It helps prevent refrigerant loss and keeps your fingers from freezing

You gotta work on that a little bit. I’m 68 years old and I can spin them off without even having a spurt come out, so the only loss I would say would be between the valve on my hose in the Schrader pin

That’s why I use probes on maintenance, after what fills the hoses if you don’t cycle it back in, I’d say at least an oz every time

non leak proof hoses..4ft 1oz 6 ft hose lose 2 oz of gas..why i strongly recommend leak proof hoses

You lose the same amount, it just doesn’t spray everywhere. The spray is from the refrigerant in the hoses not from the system. So with low loss it just traps it in the hose and you bleed it out slowly and controlled.

to me it's not so much about the loss of a. few oz. it's more of a concern of freezing my hands. freezer burn is a mf
