A few things to add from someone who has used 3D prints for some automotive things. First things first DO NOT USE PLA. PLA will warp, creep, distort and is generally not suitable for things that will get as hot or cold as something that will be in a car. I recommend at least PETG for interior parts in a shady spot, if not something stronger or with better properties. If it’s going to be in full sunlight all the time, use ASA or ABS, as those are much more UV resistant and will hold up better over time. If it’s going to be in contact with high heat or needs to be very strong, use Nylon preferably with a glass or carbon mix to give it more stiffness and dimensional stability. I’ve used PA6-GF directly in contact with my metal intake manifold as a throttle cable bracket and it’s still holding strong after two years. There’s more considerations for other plastics, but that’s a long discussion and this will at least get you started.

Helpful tip also, craftcloud3d and JLC3DP are a couple websites that you can upload a file and they'll print it for you, if you don't own a 3D printer. JLC prices start at like 0.30¢ per part. Its pretty affordable.

But how do you design the piece to make the part? I still don’t understand 3D printing 😭

You didn’t mention this in your video but making sure to print in a filament like PETG or ABS will help the longevity of these 3d printed parts

The problem is not getting the 3D printer. The problem is finding .stl files that fit properly. Either that or spending countless hours drawing these in CAD.

The car manufacturers don't want you to know this soon. they're going to start going to the government and banning 3D printer in home use

Including the cost of the printer and the filament etc., did you save money by printing your own parts?

Dont forget to tint the windows a bit and use a sunshade. UV rays and heat in summer will cause warping and cracking overtime. for new and old parts.
