@justmistyrose: A lot of people think there’s a magic law that automatically deletes collections, charge offs, bankruptcies, or late payments. That’s not how it works. Consumer laws give you rights. They require credit bureaus, furnishers, and debt collectors to investigate disputes, report accurate information, and correct or remove information they cannot legally verify. For example: • 15 U.S.C. §1681i requires the credit bureaus to conduct a reasonable investigation when you dispute information. • 15 U.S.C. §1681s-2 outlines a furnisher’s duty to report accurate information and investigate disputes they receive. • 15 U.S.C. §1692g gives you the right to request validation of a debt from a debt collector. The law itself doesn’t delete anything. The key is knowing when to use each law, how to apply it to your specific situation, and building a dispute strategy based on the facts—not copying templates from the internet. That’s the difference between sending letters… and understanding consumer law. Need help cleaning up your credit?
