You mounted the monster. When you hit a monster while airborne there’s a chances to mount it typically takes like two tries from the start of the quest to mount and when you mount you can move between parts of the monster to avoid its attempts to knock you off or brace though moving better and while mounted you need to repeatedly stab it with y/triangle for strong and x/square for weak to create weak points so you can then use your r1/rb to knock it down btw always make as many weak points as you can before using r1/rb and when you do use it do it on its back since that’s usually the hardest weak point to hit once it’s up
