@reemieshops: It’s kind of like realizing how much your mom went through after becoming a mom yourself #rotisseriechicken #toom #salad #rice #chickenandrice
I don’t know if it’s that we don’t know how to support but seeing your friend become a mom also results in some loss and grief of that friendship cause you can’t relate to life in the same way anymore.

I hear what you’re saying. But I also think that being a mom is so hard and sometimes you don’t have the ability to be there for someone when your kids need you. Do you know what I mean? I have two toddlers basically Irish twins and they need me for EVERYTHING so sometimes it’s just very overwhelming and depleting in many ways. Does that makes sense?

Oh definitely! After I became postpartum I messaged my friend and apologized to her. Told her I wish I was a better friend. I didn’t know until I went thru it.

I 1000% agree! My husband is a few years older than me and so many of his friend’s wives had babies before me. I wish I had been there for them more. I also feel like I would have gifted them like door dash gift cards or made them food or something rather than gifting like a baby blanket. Hindsight is 20:20.

It’s about the mom not the kid. Of course we are all excited for the kid but I visit to meet the kid and help the mom. So take a shower let me do some laundry cook dinner wash the dishes empty the dishwasher!!! I have no kids but I have been around plenty of moms and children to see where the mom needs help.

Also, if you’re not a baby person and then your friend ends up with a baby, it’s also like interests and needs have changed. Sometimes people grow apart.

I agree. It’s like losing a parent. I lost a parent before all my friends and I know they know it hurt me so much but since they had not yet experienced it they really had no clue just how much it hurt and changed me. You know? Some people really think you should be ok after 2 weeks and maybe some people are but I wasn’t 😭 there are just some things you don’t get unless you’ve truly experienced it. This is why we just have to have open minds, remember we are all different and be kind. Show people grace. And learn from others 🫶🏼

Reem you will experience differences in friendships throughout your life. Right now you are in the throws of motherhood, but in the future it will be something else. Be prepared.

Idk i wouldn’t take it personal or except other moms to show up for me . Parenting is hard and sometimes you really only have the mental capacity to focus on your own family . If someone is already drained from Being a mom all day and night how can they show up for someone else ?? That 1% should be poured into themselves. It’s important to have. A good partner i think

Have you been in contact with this friend regularly or did she randomly reach out possibly wanting something… 🤔

My sister who lives states away and has 4 kids of her own (including a 6 month old) offered to fly out and stay with me for up to a month after I give birth. I live with my bsf (who I was so so nervous to tell) keeps talking about how excited she is to be an aunty. Meanwhile she’s gonna be more like a second mother. I’m so blessed and thankful for the people in my life

I had the same thing kind of lastnight. Baked chicken, roasted potatoes, and cucumbers 😋 I’m a single mommy. I went home alone (after an episiotomy) no one offered help. Luckily I managed very well but it would have been nice for one person to come over for 30 minutes just while I shower and whip up some spaghetti really quick and tidy up because I was hurting and as a new mom didn’t want my son to cry too long so I was always running around.

But do you check on them? I don't get it. So the person who doesn't have kids doesn't have struggles and no longer deserves to be checked in on or reached out to first? Friendship is a two-way street, 50/50.
