I’m surprised you don’t have one of the quick release ones. It loads the same way but it has a bottom button that when the line is low you tap it on the ground while holding the trigger and it lets out more string

I've been reloading mine like this for 20 years, but I always spin the head all the way around, I had no idea you could ratchet it like that.

ahhhhh thank you I was using this ladies trimmer and I couldn't understand how to do it. I took the head off tided a knot and it kind worked 🤣
