On March 10, 2024, Grant County Sheriff’s deputies entered a severely cluttered and unhygienic home on Quail Run Road. They found the parents, Music Adame and Matthew Bynum, unresponsive on the floor due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The 5-year-old girl was found dead, hidden beneath them, having succumbed to the gas hours prior. A 7-year-old boy was also found alive in a chair. Officials believe the toxic levels of carbon monoxide resulted from the parents burning coal inside the enclosed, poorly ventilated house for heat. Both parents were arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse, including abuse resulting in death. Additionally, both children were found to have methamphetamine in their systems.

As a paramedic, dealt with a similar situation like this and it haunts me all the time. This is unbelievably sad and so unacceptable.
