I heard today we have to declare the value of all our assets and pay CGT on their value and nog on the profit. For example if I have a coin collection i have to declare its value and pay CGT if sold. Is this true? I’m a collector of many items. Putting together sets to increase their value.

Serious question. All the people that borrowed at 5 or 2% deposit. If their LVR goes down and there is no mortgage insurance does the government step in to help or I mean the tax payer steps in to help. Can anybody answer that.

Just read that all properties held after 1/07/27 will need a valuation even if there is no intention to sell. I would appreciate clarification on this. How would that even work and at what additional cost? I can see many people will get caught out.

As an avg Aussie I think I understand why all tax agents are publicly against new tax changes. People like me who doesn’t have investments or business do taxes by ourself. Tax agents client base are all people with wealth or assets who generally rely on a tax agent. So tax agents cannot back the changes because that will piss off some of the clients and will affect the business. Im starting this as a new conspiracy theory. Love your content by the way. 😁
