I did play with a couple of specific kids in the neighbourhood, but they were the children of someone in the same street who my mum was friends with. We'd been in their house with my mum and they'd been in our house with their mum. It would never have occurred to me to play with any other neighbourhood kids whose mum wasn't friends with my mum. As for hugs, I did like hugs from my mum and my one auntie - they both gave short, loving, genuine hugs. I didn't like them from my other auntie - can't explain why - and I didn't really get hugs from anyone else.

I had a 4 friends in my childhood but not at the same time. Two during p.s and two during h.s. They weren't permanent friends. I think looking back they each were during different Summer holidays. I had quite a few sisters so as I got older it was them that I hung around with. I have only just recently, as in the last fortnight, been diagnosed. It was raising 3 children (two of whom are on the spectrum) that I started to wonder about myself. I am 56

I had like one friend but typically I never made friends as a kid. I absolutely hated to be touched, which includes hugs. I still don't like it.

I flitted between playing with the neighbourhood kids and my sisters, usually the one coming up with scheming ideas, and then retreating feeling emotional , misunderstood and not feeling I belonged somehow- preferring solitude and reading as an escape. - I’m also diagnosed ADHD so probably explains the two different sides.. never really knew who was the real me - the extrovert or the introvert . I don’t remember physical affection as a child but I find it difficult and awkward now - even with greeting my parents , and especially if dealing with someone being emotional. I have no idea how to deal with that 😬

I played out with kids in my neighbourhood because I had to not because I wanted to. And no, I didn’t like hugs then and still don’t now except from a romantic partner which I haven’t had for nearly a decade. I feel so touch starved but at the same time, I don’t want people to touch me.

I generally like (and liked when I was a child) huggs only if I was in the right mood and only with specific people. For me, pression and physical touch are two stimuly I can't always bother and even if it's my mom, my dad, my friends, grandparents and my girlfriend, I'm not always ok with hugs

Don’t like hugs, even as a baby (according to my mum), still don’t like any form of hugging (I’m 60). I played with a couple of neighbourhood children as long as it was simple, ie bikes or roller skates. No parties or sleepovers, etc. I’m AuDHD

yes to the first one, but I did spend a long of time alone. no, to the second... which is confusing because I'm a hugger & very (consenting always) handsy person (in the most harmless way, honestly)

1. not really, if I did it was only 1 kid. 2. Again, not really, I was forced to hug/kiss people. I only remember hugging mum.
