📍These are the Della Falls and Love Lake Trails in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. Not for beginners! In total, this is a difficult, 3-day hike/climb all the way up to Love Lake. Here are the Deets 👇 * To get to the trailhead, you need to take a ferry from the mainland to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. * Then it is an hour and a half drive to Great Central Lake. * From there you can book a boat ride with Della Falls water taxi or paddle in yourself across this 45 km lake. * Congrats! You have finally made it to the trailhead 😅 * From here, the hike to Della Falls and then to Love Lake is a difficult 32.8 km, 1658 m elevation, out and back trail. * This is not a day hike! And it's best experienced as a two to three night backpacking trip. * There are multiple camps along the trail to help you split up the hike. No camping permits are needed and sites are first come, first serve. * The main attraction on this hike is Della Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Canada. But Love Lake was the highlight for us! ⚠️This is a remote hike with no service. Pack, prepare and plan properly. ⚠️ This is bear and cougar territory. Know how to deal with encounters of both animals and carry bear spray. ⚠️ Respect the land and leave no trace when visiting. Pack out what you pack in!
