@cassondrawanders: Hiking down from Stop #9 Lake Michigan Overlook on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, is highly discouraged! While it takes just 15 minutes to descend the 450 ft drop, the climb back up is notoriously grueling—equal to scaling a 34-story building at a steep angle—and could result in steep rescue fees if you get stranded. The ascent is extremely strenuous, can take up to two hours, and stepping in loose sand causes you to sink significantly with each step. 🤑 Rescue Fees: If you or a family member cannot make the climb back up, park rescues (using ropes/pulleys or a boat) can cost up to $3,000!! 🤑 #sleepingbeardunes #dune #Hiking
