We told my MIL and asked her not to tell anyone. Next day her mom texts us congrats, MIL claims she told her we “stopped by” and she somehow guessed that it was to announce a pregnancy.. right.. and yeah we lost that pregnancy and people knew that we didn’t want to know

My son and daughter-in-law struggled to get pregnant. They went and saw a specialist. I was aware and they came to tell me they were pregnant, but they weren't announcing to anybody and I kept that secret until they were ready. We're all getting together to plan her baby shower in September. I check in on her weekly to see how she's doing. I know my place a lot of mother-in-law's don't.

My MIL actually brought up grandparenting being a competition, who the child would be closer to, like more, etc. to my mom in the hospital room less than 24hrs after my oldest was born. She acted like she was joking but my mom can be pretty rude herself so it went over like a lead balloon 😂
