As a teacher myself, 💯 agree with this chap. I think it should be down to the school and parents. I'm sure most if not all parents would work with a school to find a suitable date.

They organise holidays for the students in term times. I had an email last month for a ski trip next year that would cost £2400 for him to go. How is a ski trip anymore educational than a holiday with his family and memories made?
