@amyepohl: People keep asking me why I can't just snap my wrist back into position... If only it were that simple. This video shows the reality of how my wrist has changed over the years following a severe infection from a doctor wrongly reusing a needle, which caused permanent nerve damage, CRPS and a contracture. It’s also a reminder that progress doesn’t always mean returning to 'normal'. Looking back at those early pictures makes me emotional 🥹 My wrist was swollen, incredibly painful, and I had very little function in my hand. After months of splinting and surgery to remove one of the shortened tendons, I regained movement I never thought I’d have again. Will my wrist ever be straight? No. Will it ever function like it did before? Also no. But compared to where I started, the difference is incredible. Progress isn’t always about being cured... sometimes it’s about regaining enough movement to make everyday life that little bit easier. I share these videos because disability and recovery aren’t always obvious. There’s often years of rehabilitation, setbacks, adaptations and small wins behind what you see today.
