We have been using “ear suspenders” from Etsy for the longest time. My son is 9 and in Jujitsu, rides dirt bikes, swims (we use it with his aqua kit) and they have held up really well. They are thinner and also have a grippy side that helps keep them in place. I swear this one that he is wearing is probably 6 years old.

A few tips I tell my patients Mommy’s and Daddy’s for my implant babies- 1- wear a beanie, gets less of a reaction from people calling the pilots cap a bonnet for a boy 🙄. Shouldn’t even have to be a thing… but people are crazy—. 2- M snuggies and cord for the ear pieces that attach to their clothes like a paci clip. 3- Wig/Toupee glue (that’s is the best from what the patient parents tell me) 4- as soon as you put them on- pick one thing he would really like and do it each time you attach them (bubble, a cookie, a fidget toy) and he will associate it with fun and not detach them. If he pull them off, don’t make a big deal about it, just put back on say “ No sir, keep your Super Ears on’ and put them back on without a reward so it don’t become a game— and his brain will associate good things happen when they are first going on in the morning! The good news is- studies show that they will outgrow the pulling them off by 18 months usually OR about 3 months after steady use! You’re doing amazing Momma!

We do the same headbands by headbands for Sophia but we pay the little extra option for the thinner top elastic and they seem to fit in there a lot better!
