@_lifewithlo_: Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you never planned for. We were invited to a birthday party at Milford State Park Splashpad and honestly we had no idea this splash pad even existed! As military life has moved us from place to place, one thing I’ve always hoped for is finding little pieces of “home” wherever we land. And we’re slowly finding it at Fort Riley. Growing up near Chicago, summer meant water, lake days, and being outside from sunrise to sunset. Watching my girls run through the splash pad, make new friends, and laugh until they were completely worn out reminded me so much of those childhood summers. Even the baby was smiling the entire car ride. She had no idea where we were going, but she knew an adventure was waiting. The girls spent the afternoon cooling off, chasing fountains, and making memories. And after all the pizza, snacks, and birthday fun, we came home to one more surprise: ice cream with sprinkles waiting in the freezer. Days like this remind me that adventure doesn’t always require a road trip.
