Transfer to a partner! I am flying round trip business class IAH - ZRH on British Airways in August for like 450,000 for two people. I also flew round trip premium economy IAH - HND on ANA for like 80,000!

Do not book through the Amex portal, always wait for transfer bonuses or just transfer to either the airline directly or to the hotel group like Marriott for example

I agree with him 1000% what he is saying it true. I have been saving points and to fly economy 2 tickets around trip was 260,000 points. and I went to discount sites for that price point. People are lieing totally!!!!!

I pay for an economy flight first - then transfer my points to upgrade the flights. 100,000=$1,000. Example Upgraded my lax to Melbourne flight this past new years for 145,000 points during December 24-Jan 10 trip - high season. Then 19,900 points for premium economy back because Delta one was full. Flew with my family (4). Paid $ 2,700 for first class/premium Econ for lax to Melbourne round trip flight per person. Tickets were 10,000 for delta one and 5400 for premium round trip at the time per person. Saved thousands. Only works when upgrading if you want certain dates. The ones they show are during the worst times. Use points for upgrades. Love Amex!!

1- You have to be open to reposition yourself. 2- understand how airlines alliances work. 3- maximize the transfer bonuses. 4- never book through Amex portal. 5- transfer points to airlines. For example, I’m based in Orlando, found a redemption to Tokyo through Houston, booked on Aeroplan to fly on EVA air 87k business class one way.

Transfer your points directly to the partner. Then book using your points. If you think there’s no value in points, try cancelling your AMEX and just use your debit card for purchases. 😫

If you’re not being flexible with your travel dates or airports you’ll never get good value. You have to look for the deal and dates then book the vacation. If you’re locked into specific days and times of year you’ll never make it.

Noooooo. You are doing something wrong. You need to transfer the points to airline partners and then get the flights. I just used chase points, transferred to British airways and got premium return to the uk for 120k points.

because the people on reddit have to on a random tuesday to a random location and fly to a hub airport on different tickets. just cash them out in the amex portal for a FHR hotel, you can get like 5 days somewhere

It’s not as easy as they make it out to me and you are eliminated on the days you can go. Example, if you wanted to go Saturday to Saturday, the deal might only be Thursday to Wednesday.
