@playsupportminis: I've gotten a lot of positive reactions for this project, but ultimately I'm quite dissapointed with how it performed. It was supposed to be my Magnum opus, the thing that made me someone in the miniature painting world. I submited it in the Master category of the Monte san savino miniature painting competition, where it failed to get any medal. I do understand that I messed up on the base, it being my first time doing resin effects, and also there was a lack of detail on the base in general. I don't know how to get into that final level of painting masterhood, but I will keep trying. #commission #orc #ork #warhammer #miniaturepainting
It Is a Magnus Opus, this Is the First time this idea take Place in my mind. you Will Forever be the one showing me this Is possibile. for me, this Is the piece that clicked, that opens a Door.
please accept a metaphoric medal from me. 🥇
I starter painting mini 20+ years ago.

I know you're disappointed by the results but.. I think that's a bit of Van Gogh not thinking it's appreciated. This speaks to me as art so much, the wonderfully simple composition just letting the emotions of the scene sing.
Some judges didn't think it was good enough but damn, everyone else sure does

Dude, that is an epic piece, and will be the majority of people. There are reasons others did better than you, but, all you can do is still practice, experiment, and learn with!! You will get there dude, you will, and honestly, I don't think it will take long for that to happen.

Others have said it but ai just had to chime in as well. This is a masterpiece! Never seen anything like it and you can FEEL the emotion from the character. Ive seen amazing mini's and been in awe of the skill and sometimes the scene its creating, but none have spoken to me like this one does. It hits on a different level.

"It's not good enough" is actually a great title for this piece. The Orc Himself seems like he's thinking that as he is looking at his reflection.

This thing is incredible. I’ve been an artist and around professional artists most my adult life, and the fact is, you don’t really choose when you’re masterpiece happens. It may even be overlooked at first. Sometimes artists best works aren’t discovered until after they have passed. In the world of miniature and the internet we want that instant satisfaction, but being an artist was never about anything being instant. The best thing to do is enjoy the process, expect no outcome. Create as if there is no end to your creativity. It’s about the next piece, not your last.

And also 166 people have seen this and liked it… imagine you was in a room full of 166 people who all liked your work, wouldn’t that feel good and something to be immensely proud of

in the Old Masters of painting there was a concept called a masterpiece proof that you had achieved mastery and would have received the rank of Master in the guild. This is a masterpiece be proud of your work

My man, reflect like your orc is doing here. You strived for glory and accolades of your peers, thinking their validation would define your magnum opus, but yet you're the one who can say what that is and isn't for you, and you should be giving the recognition and validation to yourself that you sought from others. This model and theme of your diorama is amazing and you should be proud regardless.
