@airic.z: More people will be eligible for the new ISA! What are your thoughts on the first time buyer ISA? Additional Information: 1. The information we have so far is based on the consultation. As such, details can be changed 2. No Transfers between First time buyer ISA and Lifetime ISA are allowed however, transfers from Help to Buy to First time buyer will be allowed up to the contribution limit. Note that you can use all 3 for the same property. 3. Anyone above the age 18 (including 40 and above) can open a First time buyers ISA 4. You can still continue to save in your LISA with the existing rules, but it will not be possible to open a Lifetime ISA once the FTB is rolled out. 5. Contribution limit is not yet confirmed, however it will be subject to the £20K ISA allowance (and the £12K Cash ISA limit) 6. There is no maximum subscription 7. First Time Buyer ISA can only be used to purchase your first home with a mortgage. #firsttimehomebuyer #firsttimebuyers #firsttimehomebuyertips #savingmoney #firsttimebuyersuk
They had a First Time Buyers ISA then replaced it with the Life Time ISA? Now back to FTB ISA? What? 😅

Lower the cap?? Is already hard to find apartments at 450,000 in London

Lowering the cap would be such a mistake, targeting those who need it unless you need it and you live in London

This is awful. Lowering the cap renders it almost useless for anyone in London and surrounding areas and changing the bonus structure means you loose out on the compounding interest you would otherwise earn year by year on the bonus. Why do they have to change things but always make it worse 🙄 I so want to support this

Hmm the bonus of the LISA is getting the bonus straight away so it can be invested and compound. I wonder if you can have a LISA and a FTB ISA

all of these schemes just make houses more expensive because it drives up demand and you end up playing cat and mouse.
the only fix for this is a land value tax that will crash the over inflated values we have.

it's so pointless, it's basically the help to buy ISA which they scrapped for the LISA 🫠

lowering the cap even more will make it completely useless to first time buyers in London 🥲

I’m not a huge fan, it’s nice not having money locked away but means you are missing out on the interest you’d get from the bonus.

I currently have a LISA with a decent amount would it be worth also getting a new help to buy if I can max out both each year? Can a single person use both on a single property?

If I used a LISA against buying my first home, can I still add to it for my pension? or is it gone now?

so what’s going to happen to current LISA’s, are they just going to be moved to a first time buyer account with the government bonus’ that they’ve already given?

Gav from Next Steps :
Would you say it would be a good idea to maximise contributions now (and get the bonus), then transfer to the new product and withdraw the money?
