@el_jefe_trades: Retirement is a huge accomplishment and something to look forward to. Early retirement even more so. But just because you can, maybe financially, doesn’t mean you necessarily should. #Retirement #Fire #Money #Burnout #FYP

Very well said, Jeff. So much value in this post and it’s extremely helpful coming from someone who has been down this path. Being within the age range mentioned, I had no idea this was a topic on the mind of many others. Thanks so much for sharing. During your time in the 35-50 range, would you say you implemented an aggressive portfolio? Or did you find it best sticking with index ETFs (SPY, VTI, QQQ) and let the market do its thing?

Great video. And great info. Other than a Roth IRA and individual stocks. What are great automatic monthly contributions to make? S&P QQQs? ETFs? There are so many to chose from. My question is what’s the best long term auto investment you can do for 30 years? lol I know that’s a million dollar question but what’s 5 basic ones for the guy like myself who just wants to set and forget?

Thanks as always Jeff for your perspective. It’s funny that you posted this because I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. I’m 42 and would love to retire by my early 50’s. I’ve been fortunate with my job. Some days I do have a lack of motivation or desire but I keep telling myself what you highlighted here. I don’t want to waste my best earning years and potential by retiring early.

Thank you Jeff!!. Greatly appreciated your thoughts. Can you also provide your thoughts on the financial data points that you considered before retirement . Did your financial net worth reach X times your yearly expenses that made you comfortable to retire ? How much cash did you reserve to keep in fixed income/CD’s at retirement ? Any consideration in changing of your investment decisions ? ( split between stock and bonds?). How does the mind set changes of investment decisions when you know you won’t have much inflows of cash flows from your regular job. Trying to learn as much as I can from you. Thanks again .

I am working to... pass to my sons some generational wealth. I want the curse to end on me, the last one to live paycheck to paycheck. I will educate them on matters of personal finance and investing and when they hit 30, give them a substantial portion of the portfolio into management. before that they can manage their own.

Great advice! I wish I would have heard this and known the importance of it a decade ago! I’m now 43 raising 3 girls alone after devoting my life to my family only to end up divorcing my abusive husband and having to go into debt to get away. I’m slowly getting back on my feet trying to start from what feels like square one. I feel like retirement will not be a thing that’s anywhere in my near future but I’m hoping to show my girls the importance of creating your own way and not relying on someone else.
