just get a DAS compartment and use that. NAS can be too much for what you want to do.using backblaze to get a cloud backup of ur archive pretty much is good enough. way cheaper than a NAS setup that some people suggest in the comments. then just work off of one SSD for current projects

I have 6x 4TB external SSD‘s + 96 TB NAS 😅 Luckily bought everything before the crazy time with the prices started.

Idk if it will help but a software called WizTree helped freed up space by locating parts of my drive that ate up most of the storage (cache, old prjct tmlnes, etc.)
