let me deviate a little bit. Through metacognition, I've come to realize that I am not simply a "good person." I'm a human being capable of both good and evil. Recognizing my own flaws keeps me from judging others too harshly and prevents me from becoming deluded about who I am. That awareness keeps me accountable. indeed it's self brutalization 😅😅😅😅

Perception itself is bias based. To SEE, you must detach from expectations of every possible outcome or situation. Be an observer outside of yourself

Maladaptive daydreaming falls under this category…in fact, it takes it a bit further yet people don’t talk about it and no one condemns it even though it can do a lot of damage.

I’ve tend to notice people find comfort seeing from their perspective, only. Tell them to think outside outside box sounds like a drag to them which is actually unfair ! Their point and judgements is not jst only biased but damaging to other individuals.

I totally agree. When I clearly analyse myself as a teenager while improving my way of perceiving and going through life, it can get ugly and that defensiveness is definitely there. So now when caught I try to not defend myself , I surrender and learn depending on the person, situation and time.

It's one of the hardest things you'll ever do. True self-reflection can feel like a form of self-inflicted brutality because the mind naturally clings to the comfort and safety of its own illusions. Facing who you really are is mentally exhausting and emotionally draining, but it's also one of the most powerful steps toward genuine growth. If you truly want to become a better person, there's no substitute for confronting yourself honestly.

Self-awareness has shown me my own flaws, and that humility has made me less quick to judge others. At the same time, I don’t let empathy come at the cost of losing my awareness, boundaries, or sense of self.

This also lets you understand people to a very great extent, why they are who they are and why they did/do what they did/do. You are able to place yourself in their position and juxtapose their actions with what would have been yours, although nuanced. Maxed out self awareness in my terms.

And I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I am an entirely different person from what I tell people. I’ve learnt not to judge people, all because I’ve been down that path. So, it all boils down to recognizing who you truly are as a person

I’d like to remind us that we are humans above all else. You can say this, be as self aware as you want to be. You will ALWAYS be biased when it comes to yourself. Plus don’t watch urself so much that you start to watch yourself live instead of living.

I be brutally honest w myself but I’m not sure its useful. Bc whos to say whatever conclusions I come to w my brutal honesty is an accurate judgement of what I am or doing? I’ve been brought up to believe brutal honesty usually leads to negative assessments and we supposed to just accept that, but im tired of acting like the “uncomfortable truths” are the entire culmination of what I am. I have been overly self aware for a while. I don’t think its delusional to, still with honesty and fair judgement, see something different, even if it does appear more “comforting”. Idk if ive got the topic right but yea
