im 37 and thinking of psychology route. I couldn't be a full blown DR like you badasses but I wanted to do maybe probation, helping troubled youth or even corrections. Is this realistic?

I remember a counselor asked me what I want to be and I said a psychiatrist or an anesthesiologist, and they thought I said a psychologist, and I thought “ those jobs are very different from each other how did they come to that” but now I see it might be because both start with psych

Out of curiosity, are people who get a PhD in experimental psychology usually referred to as psychologists? or are they usually referred to as a role in the specific research field they are trained in?

then add in LPC vs LMHC vs LCSW, PCPs being able to prescribe SSRIs as well as psychiatrists, PMHNPs and PAs and it gets really confusing 😂
