And fr what is “one more bite” gonna do for your kid. Is one bite going to make or break their growth? Be real Janice🤨🤨

The only one I worry about is the no separate kids meals. It doesn’t apply to all children, but as somebody with ADHD, even if I wanted to eat something, my body would not let me. I think a better alternative is if they want to eat something else they have to make it.

Agreed! If I’m having ice cream at 2pm, he can have some bites. I try to praise him for trying everything rather than cleaning his plate and we call foods “all the time” and “sometimes” foods.

I remember having to eat until I felt sick and I still wasn't finished so I slept at the table because I couldn't eat anymore. my kids will never go through that

Different kids have different appetites! The clean plate thing is so bizarre.

my mom always insisted on the clean plate so we could get dessert. after a certain point, I was made to watch them eat ice cream while being told I couldn't have any because I was bad or I didn't need it. I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder at 7 years old. thank you.

Love this!! I do the same with the addition of having a comfort food for my toddler on standby in case she truly doesn’t like what her dad and I are having

I love this! We really closely follow the same rules. It looks like your little one is still little, but what would you do if she becomes picky later with trying new things? Mine 5 & 4 sometimes don’t want to try something new, so I push the take one bite, and more often than not they end up loving it but I also want to respect them not liking foods 😩

To this day I don’t know when I’m full because I was forced to finish everything on my plate. I don’t stop when I’m full I stop when I hate myself

I’m on board with all of this except feeding the same meals to my child as what we eat. It’s always the same base but is often modified because my son (17mo) is a little delayed in what he can chew/handle when eating! But it’s my goal to get to that point!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

If they don't eat there dinner what do you do? I am at in impass with my daughter and I don't want let her have snacks in replacement of dinner? Do you think it is okay to re offer the meal from dinner or a healthy snack as an alternative?

How would you recommend a parent handle a child who doesn’t want to eat dinner when they don’t like it?

This is how I was raised and I have a very healthy relationship with food. Not a picky eater either and I rarely dislike something

the only thing i disagree with here that im assuming you don't have to deal with is "if theyre hungry they'll eat". a lot of arfid and food texture kids (like myself) simply have and will refuse to eat no matter how hungry if a safe option is presented. even if your own kid does not express these troubles, you should try to be aware and accepting of that fact especially as they get older and may have playdates or sleepovers.

I do like to tell my niece and nephew eat as much as u can bc you won't get a snack until later. Bc they'll snack on things all day and barely eat their food

The “clean plate” and “one more bite” thing I had as a child messed me up so bad!! Even years later now I can no longer gage how much I can actually eat and more often than not under or over shoot it, and eating food isn’t something I can bring myself to enjoy to the fullest anymore. I’ve developed a fear of eating in public spaces or with set portions because I feel this pressure to finish it all or everything is wasted. The only time I’d EVER disagree with slide 5 is if the child has already tried said food and didn’t like it. Making another meal in this case is better than either waiting for them to eat a food they don’t like or go hungry.
