Dallas is a stunning Blue Merle Great Dane, yet he’s sitting in an overcrowded shelter hoping someone notices him before he becomes just another overlooked dog. Just look at him. His stunning merle coat, towering size, and soulful eyes are enough to stop anyone in their tracks. But what Dallas needs isn’t admiration. He needs a home. Great Danes are often called “gentle giants” because despite their impressive size, they’re known for being affectionate, loyal companions who simply want to be with their people. Before adopting a giant breed, please make sure you’re prepared for the commitment. Extra-large dogs require more food, larger beds, larger crates, larger vehicles, and higher vet costs than the average dog. They also have special considerations, including management to help reduce the risk of bloat, a life-threatening condition that affects deep-chested breeds. If you’ve been dreaming of adding a Great Dane to your family, this could be your chance.
