I had an idea once, the 10th Doctor and Rose while stopping an alien in 1999, stumble upon the the headset, Rose puts it on….and nothing happens, so they leave, but obviously a digital copy of her is put in the machine, then by 2017 the present of the show, the 14th, maybe 15th Doctor re stumbles upon on it in that year, actually investigates it, does some scans, modifies the headset to actually put you in the game not just a copy, puts it on, goes in, after playing some of the adventures for a month while trying to regrasp his memory and access the worlds code, convinces Cain otherwise, exits back to his body via the void, puts Cain and all the players on a circuit board, shuts down the computer down, puts all the players into new android bodies and sends them all back to the year they entered the game, but per request Leaves Rose in the present and takes Cain in a new body on as a companion, to see the stars and real world, he thinks after 21 years in digital hell Cain could use a view of the real world
