Not necessarily. Try this 👆 Sometimes, it’s simply a case of knowing where to look. One technique I’ve used for years is overlaying letters and shapes using the Difference blend mode in Illustrator. As forms intersect, unexpected shapes begin to appear. Most go nowhere. Some spark an idea. And occasionally, one reveals a direction you would never have found. I’ve found this particularly useful when exploring negative space monogram logos, where subtle relationships between letters can reveal entirely new possibilities. The goal here is exploration. To reveal possibilities. To discover new relationships between shapes. To find forms worth refining. It’s not a case of merging a few shapes and calling it done. The challenges still exist. This isn’t to say negative space logos are easy. But there are better ways to explore them. I hope this method gives you a new perspective and a few more pathways worth exploring.
