Putin is trying to downplay this. This does not mean that Hitler and Stalin did not cooperate. The key problem with Putin's argument is that heads of state do not always sign agreements personally. The 1939 Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol were negotiated and approved by Hitler and Stalin, even though they were formally signed by their representatives. Under the agreement, Eastern Europe was divided into spheres of influence between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

He is absolutely right; Stalin did not work with Hitler, however Stalin and Lenin worked closely with the British. The British sponsored Lenin and later work with Stalin. Both of them were British agents and the goal was to destroy Russia, which they managed to do so. Putin is insanely clever at diversion tactics, talks the truth but avoids certain facts, like the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, having a non aggression pact, trade agreements where Russia gave resource in return for technology and military equipment, Germans training in Russia secretly, Stalin flirted with the idea of joining the axis powers btw, send diplomats to Berlin, also was correspondence with Hitler and Stalin directly. Idk the context of the question that was proposed to Putin but it seems like he’s painting it as the west helping Germany more than the Russian did, which isn’t true.

Russia worked with hitler and the Nazis in 1939 to 1941 - only after hitler turned on them did Russia switch sides. The truth always gets in the way for the Russian propaganda!

Ofc there would have been since before the war they were communicating with Hitler such as the American president and the Munich agreement and the German-French non aggression pact by France. He’s trying to paint the allies in a bad picture while acting like the Soviet Union and Germany wernt co-operating at the start of the war invading Poland together and signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact so clearly there is a link even if he never met with him he clearly worked with him within his rule
