I was gonna continue my normal series on college reflection and as i was planning what to film for my first year of college thoughts…i wanted to reflect in a different way this time and open up a bigger conversation. My last semester was very VERY rough for me. the learning curve was SUPER steep and while i was excited to challenge myself in my new chapter of learning, I fell back and lost my love for learning…ENTIRELY. I was constantly unmotivated, doubting my intellectual abilities, and i landed in the bottom quartile for one of my midterms… I genuinely felt like I was just plainly stupid. Not because I couldn’t handle the workload or rigor but because the way we’re expected to learn felt completely disconnected from how I actually learn best. Because when my friend was breaking down every bit of that information down to the core, the concepts aren’t actually IMPOSSIBLE to understand. they were rather super simple concepts. But those lectures just felt impossible to digest because profs would just showcase these fancy derivations and applications without ACTUALLY explaining the basics. This video is to question who education is really built for. What does it mean to actually democratize learning? What if academic rigor didn’t have to come at the cost of accessibility? If you ever felt overwhelmed, out of place, or like you’re passively making your way through college—this one’s for you. Because you are NOT ALONE. #amherstcollege #university #LAC #college #collegelife #studyvlog #study #school #physics #engineering #education #learningcurve #reflection #collegereflections
