Thanks for sharing! I lived in Philly when they closed and it was so shocking! I figured it was never absorbed by Temple, Penn, Jefferson etc bc it was too expensive and I think someone else wanted to turn into condos?!! Still such a loss😕

Philadelphia proper at one point had 83 hospitals in the city limits. that number is 54 now according to some sources. This current culling started with Mt Siani in South Philly , then PCOM, Graduate, MCP, and HAH. We just lost Suburban General in Norristown out on the burbs (Sacred Heart closed in the 90s) and Crozier, Delco Memorial, Taylor, and Springfield in Delco, Jennersville in Chester county was closed and has reopened as a much smaller facility. New Hospitals ? Jefferson Einstein & CHOP KoP, and Jefferson Einstein was just moving an existing hospital (Montgomery Hosp) . Mainline has a plan to open a new from scratch facility 422 and 29

I work in GME at Temple and we took 89 orphaned trainees from Hahnemann. It was chaotic but we dropped everything to get you all onboarded with as limited interruption as possible!

In this day & age, all parts of life need a contingency plan...My dad worked at Hahnemann in the early 90's...they did a bunch of layoffs back then...

my fil was seeing a ortho surgeon there for years and having w hip replacements there.. he was sent letters to how to pick up his records and that was ridiculous went over 5 times to get them and finally get them.. Dr retired and to find a Dr to take over ce was hard as no one wanted to take care of him ad they did not want to work on another surgeons work.. glad you found somewhere to go and just up the street.temple is my go to for all my needs.

Thanks for giving an inside look at this process. I read about it in the paper I had no idea how this affected anyone who worked trained there
