dont they literally make boards with that sort of thing on them for toddlers to learn fine motor skills? that looks less like child proofing and more like child training.

does nothing, my child figured it out in 2 min and the child covers don't fit because they are too big and bulky. we ended up taking the nobs off completely so they can't turn it on. I much nicer featured would be an out of reach button that you can turn off and on so the entire stove doesn't work.

I have one of those ranges and I love the knobs. I think they are less child safety and more piece of mind that it isn’t knocked on by adults

im thinking about the knobs on my stove and I already have to push before I turn, so accidently turning on the gas is already kinda hard?

it seems like it would be a better option to have a spot you can put them if you're trying to keep a kid from messing with the knobs. we used to have a little basket beside the stove we put them all in if we weren't cooking because my kids thought they were THE COOLEST "toy" to play with.

we have this in our range we like them so much we have bigger dogs and one we used to have turned on the gas once. those plastic safety knob covers suck. the wedges that go behind are a little better but we like the safety knobs

as a blind person I just want them to stop using haptic feedback because it's cheaper. Yes I know mechanical things undergo more stress and can break blah blah blah so please stop with the haptic panels I beg you

I would argue that sure, it’s not disability-friendly; it’s also not geared/marketed to consumers with those requirements. It also seems like it’s more of a function for adults to be more comfortable than it’s intentional to be turned on, not child safety per se.

Can you talk about the touch controls on the Frigidaire Gallery induction ranges? I love the range overall but not the controls. And you think "oh, they're difficult to set because of safety" but I have managed to accidentally turn one on once when a cheap steel sheet pan was on the burner and that thing got red hot and turned blue permanently when it cooled. It got very hot very fast and had I walked away I'm sure it would have melted and probably caused a fire.
